The traditional ancestral territory is an area that a First Nation identifies as the land our ancestors traditionally inhabited and stewarded since time immemorial. This concept is not just important, it's crucial to appreciating the depth of our connection to the land and the significance of our traditional practices.
Traditional ancestral homelands acknowledge that land is handed down from generation to generation within our families.
Unceded means that First Nations families never ceded or legally surrendered their lands to the Crown or Canada.
